Most of them are unaware of what should they do after installing WordPress? 1. Delete Sample Content
After successfully installing WordPress, you will find some sample content including a Sample Page, Hello World post, Hello Dolly plugin and a comment. You should remove all these unnecessary content & plugin as keeping these sample content on your blog can be bad for SEO.
2. Configure General Settings
In General settings of WordPress, we need to configure tagline and date. To configure these settings, in your WP dashboard, hover on Settings and click on General. After it, you should put a tagline and site title which corresponds to your blog.

You should set SEO friendly permalink structure for your blog. The default permalink structure of your blog is that SEO friendly. So you need to set one. To change the default permalink structure, go to Settings > Permalinks. You should set Day and Name or Post Name. Both of these are SEO friendly.
After selecting one, click on save.
4. Delete Unwanted Themes & Install A New One
Whenever you complete a fresh WordPress installation, your blog will automatically be uploaded with free WordPress themes. I have never recommended free WordPress themes. Instead, you should always go for premium WordPress themes. These are premium WordPress themes that can give your blog or website a professional look.

Before using or applying any WordPress theme, make sure to delete the previous (old) WordPress theme. Keeping the old one will take unnecessary space and updates may be required. If you do not update your old themes, it may create a security issue for your blog.
So it is vital to remove all unused WordPress themes.
5. Secure Your Blog
Security should be a prime concern for every blogger. Security attacks on WordPress based sites are increasing day by day. So you need to improve your blog’s security. To secure my WordPress blog, I use WordPress security plugins to make sure that there is no unauthorized access to my blog.

With every fresh WordPress installation, an anti-spam WordPress plugin called “Akismet” comes pre-installed. It is one of the best WordPress plugins to control spam comments. It comes integrated with the JetPack plugin. You can use a free version of it with some limits.
Another great anti-spam plugin is Antispam Bee. Akismet is slightly better than Antispam Bee. But it also does a pretty good job in preventing spam comments.
Make sure, you are always using one of these plugins on your blog.
8. Install An SEO WordPress Plugin
SEO is vital all of the blog or site on the web which is expecting traffic from search engines. To rank your blog posts higher in search engines, proper SEO is necessary. To optimize your articles on the blog an SEO plugin is vital. Which SEO plugin will you use on your WordPress blog? Use WordPress SEO By Yoast to get better results.
With it, you can easily optimize your latest articles for search engines. Also, there is no need to install any other plugin to create an XML sitemap in WordPress.
9. Take Backup Of Your Blog
A backup of a blog or site is very essential. In fact, we should take a backup of the blog’s data to ensure full security of our site. We may need backup in a situation when the site’s data got deleted due to malicious attacks. There is two free WordPress plugin for backups which include BackWPup and Backup to Dropbox.
You can choose in between these two plugins.

- Set up your user profile by going in Users > Your Profile from WP Dashboard.

So these are the important steps to do after installing WordPress. You can consider these steps as the base for your blog. Until you have not completed every step listed above, your blog has a very low chance of getting success. So make sure, you follow every point listed above after installing WordPress.
